The Run starts from the Fleece Inn, Bretforton at 9.00am on St George's Day (Wednesday 23rd April). It's free to take part and the three-hour treasure hunt will take you to many beautiful locations across the Vale of Evesham, all with an asparagus theme. To register please call 01386 565373.

The cedar tree in the churchyard is due to be felled on Thursday 24th April, having been assessed as dying or dead by an arboriculturalist.

Cord wood, ready for splitting, will be available from the churchyard on application to John Comins, Churchyard Secretary (01386 750292). The church would ask for a donation for the churchyard from anyone who would like some of the firewood.

A peal lasting 2 hours 43 minutes was rung on the bells of St James’s Church on 25th April 1964. This was the first, and only, peal performed on these bells (since 1685).

To mark the 50th anniversary of this event, Birlingham bell ringers will be ringing a quarter peal on the evening of Friday 25th April. The quarter peal will take approximately 45 minutes. Although a number of quarter peals have been rung on the bells by visitors over the years, this will be the first one to be completed by a band consisting entirely of regular Birlingham ringers.

The Swan Inn's 22nd Beer Festival will be held on the weekend of Friday 16th to Sunday 18th May. Featuring over 20 beers and 10 ciders, the festival is open all day during the weekend. Food will be served every day.

Live music will be provided by folk group, The Old Ways, on the Friday night and local band, Where’s Martin, on the Saturday.

Thank you to all those who took part in the Litter Picks at Nafford on 12th April and Swan’s Neck on 14th April. At each location a large mound of rubbish was collected, most of which had been left behind by the recent floods.
