After a busy few weeks, October looks set to be a quieter month.

There will be a Thanksgiving Service for the life of Sarah Clode at 2.00 pm on Friday 25th September in St James’s Church.
 
We would like to offer our condolences to Sarah’s family.

This year's Harvest Festival Service will be held in St James's Church on Sunday 4th October at 11.00 am. Gifts of produce, and particularly dry and tinned food, will be passed on to Maggs Day Centre for the Homeless in Worcester.
 
After the church service, there will be a Bring and Share Lunch in the Village Hall, to which everyone is invited. Please bring a plate of food to share and something to drink.

Services at St James’s Church during October will be held at the following times:
  • Sunday 4th: Harvest Festival, 11.00am (with Angela Gerrard)
  • Sunday 11th: Holy Communion, 10.30am (Rev. Leonard Burn)
  • Sunday 18th: Morning Praise, 10.30am (Joanna Williams)
  • Sunday 25th: Eucharist, 10.30am (Rev. Claire Lording)
Please note that, apart from 4th October, all morning services will be held slightly later than in the past, at 10.30am.

The Swan Inn will be closed for an annual holiday from Saturday 10th October until Monday 19th October.
 
The pub will re-open as normal on Tuesday 20th October.

At its meeting on 16th September, Birlingham Parish Council discussed a number of issues, including the following:
  • Steven Conder from Partridge Cottage, Lower End was co-opted to fill the vacancy on the Council.
  • The deadline for return of the Village Survey has now passed and the results are being analysed prior to being presented at a public meeting in the next few weeks.
  • The Millennium Map and case have now been repaired and will be reinstalled outside Birlingham Village Hall shortly.
  • The Jubilee Committee have now purchased 25 trestle tables for use at village events. The New Homes Bonus contributed half the cost of the tables, which were used for the first time at the Flower & Produce Show.
Full minutes of the Parish Council meeting will be available shortly.

The following planning application has been received by the Parish Council:
  • The Old Rectory, New Barn Lane: Internal alterations, additional windows, alterations to windows/doors (Listed Building consent). (Case No. 15/02185).
