Wychavon Parish Games – Bell Boating, Saturday 25th June
As part of the Wychavon Parish Games this year, Birlingham is entering a team in the Bell Boating competition. This event takes place next Saturday, 25th June, at 8.30am in St George's Field, Pershore.
Jon Komor writes:
Bell boating is possibly the most fun competition in the Parish Games and takes place on the river in Pershore. Bell boats were created for community and group events, and are safe and stable boats.
"Designed by Olympic Canoe Coach David Train, the Bell Boat is a totally unique design in watercraft, its purpose is to remove the fear of taking part and to help with team work and co-operation. The versatility of the Bell Boat holds no bounds, it is a long-lasting robust platform for introducing all ages to water sports" (Taken from http://www.bellboat.com/.)
The Parish Games course is a 200m sprint alongside St. George's Field in Pershore. Each team is provided with safety equipment and a qualified helmsman to steer the boat, but we need a crew of six paddlers. There is no age requirement and no prior experience is necessary. Everyone is welcome. Please email jon.komor@hotmail.co.uk if you would be interested in taking part in this unusual event.
