It’s a busy time for Birlingham next week, particularly with the ever-popular car rally at the cricket ground a week on Friday.

1. Parish Council Meeting, Wednesday 20th July
The next meeting of Birlingham Parish Council takes place on Wednesday 20th July at 7.00pm in Birlingham Village Hall. Among other items on the agenda, the Parish Council will be co-opting a new member. During the meeting there is an opportunity to express your views on local issues, so please come along.
The agenda for the meeting will shortly be available at and the draft minutes of the previous Parish Council meeting on 11th May can be viewed at
Please note that the meeting begins at the new, earlier time of 7.00pm and should be concluded by 8.30pm.
Birlingham IW are going on their history walk around the village on Thursday 21st July, during which they will be discussing the history of the life and buildings of the village.

A final reminder that the 2016 Birlingham Vintage and Classic Car Rally will take place on the evening of Friday 22nd July on the Cricket Ground. Classic cars and classic motorcycles are welcome to arrive from 5:30pm and the gates open to the public at 6:00pm. There will be a bar and barbecue, and live music.
The entrance fee is £2 per person including classic car drivers and their passengers. Under 16s are free. All proceeds from the gate after costs go to Macmillan Cancer Support. The Macmillan Team will also run a raffle and tombola. If you wish to donate prizes for the raffle and tombola please drop these off to Sadie Yeomans at The Corner House by Monday 18th July at the latest.

4. New Book Selection at the Birlingham Bookshop, St James’s Church
Angela Fitch writes:
The bookshop at St James’s Church is open every day: 50p per book or three for £1 – all proceeds go to the upkeep of the church.
Many of our books are in brand new condition and we welcome donations of children’s, cookery, gardening books etc. as well as fiction, for the new collections we’re working on. Anyone wishing to donate books can leave them by the boxes to the left of the font, or call Angela Fitch on 01386 751682, who will be happy to collect them from you.
