1. St James’ Church Services – February

Services at St James’ Church during February will be held at the following times:

  • Sunday 3rd: Morning Praise, 10.30am (with Angela Gerrard)
  • Sunday 10th: Holy Communion, 10.30am (with Revd Janet Robbins)
  • Sunday 17th: Bulb Sunday Service, 3.00pm (with Revd Claire Lording)
  • Sunday 24th: Holy Communion, 9.00am (with Canon Richard Etheridge)
Save the date! On Sunday 24th March there is to be a Pet Service at 3.00pm in St James’ church. All pets and their owners are warmly invited to an informal service where we will give thanks for our pets and offer them a blessing. This is a first for Birlingham, and we hope it will be well supported by the village.

2. Birlingham Photography Club, Tuesday 5th February

Angela Fitch writes:
The next meeting of Birlingham Photography Club is on Tuesday 5th February, 7.00pm – 8.30pm, in Birlingham Village Hall. £4pp to include refreshments.

The art of photography: Artist, photographer and BPC member, Tissy Davidson, will speak about the path she takes to find the often simple but stunning locations in both natural and man-made environments, where she makes her original images.

But it doesn’t stop there! Tissy takes those images and using computer software turns her crisp, clear and interesting images into something that could be a watercolour or an oil painting.

How does she do that? Find out more on 5th February at Birlingham Village Hall! BPC is open to anyone who is interested in photography, under 18s to be accompanied.

3. Cuppa & Chat, Wednesday 6th February

The next Cuppa & Chat takes place on Wednesday 6th February, from 3.00pm to 4.30pm. Come and enjoy tea, coffee and cake in Birlingham Village Hall – an opportunity to meet friends and catch up with the latest news.

All are welcome, especially families new to the village. Cost is £2 per head and it is always held on the first Wednesday of the month. For more information please contact Adrianne Woodward on 01386 750936.

4. Bulb Teas

Caryl Mills writes:
Bulb Teas start this Saturday and will be held each weekend in February in the Village Hall from 11.00am to 4.00pm. The Bulb Sunday Service will be held on 17th February at 3.00pm.

If you are able to help by donating homemade cakes or serving teas and coffees, your assistance would be really welcome. It is good fun and a time to meet old friends and make new ones. We also need some strong arms to help put out the tables and chairs at 10.00am on Saturdays and put them away after 4.00pm on Sundays. Cheaper than going to the gym!

We also have tables for craft and homemade items, so if you would like to sell anything then we may be able to support you.

If you are able to help or have any queries, then please contact Caryl Mills: caryl-mills@hotmail.co.uk, 01386 751748 or 07766 657666.
